Little Miss Witch: Revenge of the Tainted Angel

Chapter 6 - A Pitifully Resentful Woman

They trampled her heart and expected her to just let them be happy together? Never! Not only for her own sake, but also for her unborn child.

"But before that, I need you to do something for me," Li Yuren\'s words confused her. "Your husband seems to think that he could steal the family\'s wealth by secretly investing in shell companies."

At those words, Li Xiuying froze on her seat and stared wide-eyed at her uncle. Wait? The contracts she checked earlier didn\'t look suspicious to her at all. Was her husband really trying to suck the Li family dry?

"Ying, you brought him to our family. I expect you to take responsibility for this problem. You wouldn\'t want your grandfather to clean up after your mess, would you?"

Li Xiuying could only chew her lower lip. Her husband surely knew how to stab her from behind. She wondered what else could he be doing behind her back aside from cheating.

"Yes, Uncle." She agreed easily and started eating.

She hadn\'t had any decent meals since Mu Jianyu left her in their home and the moment the meat reached her tongue, she was assaulted with familiar flavors. Chef Tian must have been dropped by and met her uncle earlier. There could be no other person who can make this dish aside from him.

"Good. I know you need to cope with the situation but your Grandpa wants you to evict Mu Jianyu from his post and go back to the company to fix it yourself. Can you do it?" Li Yuren asked her, his eyes softening as she ate heartily.

The past weeks of pretending must have been really tiring for her. It was evident that she\'d lost a lot of weight and her pregnancy added a toll on her fragile body. Li Yuren feared that she might suffer another miscarriage this time.

Maybe it was a good thing that the bastard sought for divorce. A bastard like him could never be a good father for Ying\'s child. If he could abandon his wife for his mistress, he wouldn\'t bat an eyelid and could refuse to look at his own flesh and blood.

"After tailing him for three months, Uncle, do you know how I hate myself right now? I should\'ve listened to you and Chuntao when you warned me about him." She chuckled lowly, "I couldn\'t believe how blind I was to love a person like him."

Li Xiuying felt sick down to her core. Watching the cheating couple being affectionate made her feel sick and disgusted. She refused to cry, refused to look away to convince herself that this wasn\'t just a nightmare that will pass once she wakes up.

The glaring truth was already in front of her yet her despicable husband chose to lie to her till the very end.

As she watched them kissing and being intimate while everyone around them was oblivious about their affair, for the first time in her life, Li Xiuying felt intense hatred for another person. She hated Lin Meirong but it wasn\'t comparable to the hatred she bore for her husband.

If she could, she would\'ve sent them straight to hell. Lin Meirong might not be a popular actress but her husband was somewhat known in the business community. It would be easy for someone to use him to destroy the image of Li Corporation.

She wanted to scream, she wanted to ruin everything around her but the thought that it would hurt her child stopped her from making drastic decisions that not only could hurt her but her baby as well.

Li Xiuying couldn\'t even recognize the woman in her reflection anymore. Mu Jianyu did this. Her husband turned her into a pitifully resentful woman. He destroyed her more than he could ever know.

"Ying, you know we only want you to be happy. This is why I could not accept your husband. It also took time for you to convince Chuntao for her to agree to let you marry. Have you told her yet?"

How could she tell Chuntao that her life was currently in a mess?

Their bond as twins was strong and deep. Because they were identical twins, it was impossible for anyone to distinguish who was who except for their family. Sometimes, the two of them would pretend to be the other to trick people for fun. Only their Uncle Yuren wouldn\'t fall for their tricks.

There were times when one of them was able to feel when the other was in pain or trouble which couldn\'t be explained. If neither of them were busy, they could spend hours on the phone talking to each other, sharing everything that happened while they were apart.

Even Mu Jianyu was displeased at their closeness, but has never dared to utter a word about it. He could swear Li Chuntao held grudges against him by marrying Li Xiuying.

Li Xiuying has never hidden anything from her twin sister except this. She didn\'t have the courage to tell Chuntao that her husband was cheating on her. And now that only a piece of paper was binding her to Mu Jianyu, she felt like a pathetic coward.

If Li Chuntao was in her shoes, what would she do? She wondered.

Ha! If it was Li Chuntao who found her own husband fucking his mistress on their own bed, Li Xiuying was sure her sister would\'ve killed her husband and kept the mistress alive. Knowing her sister, Li Xiuying wouldn\'t be surprised if Chuntao tortured the other woman alive until she begged for her own death.

A bloody murder would\'ve transpired for sure if it was her twin sister, unlike her who only turned her back and ran away like a coward after hearing the scream of pleasure by the other woman her husband had brought to their marital bed.

Between them, her twin sister was more level headed and could be vicious to any person who dared to trample her. Li Chuntao was a strong woman. Her twin sister only decided to become a doctor because their Uncle Yuren refused to allow her to enter the army.

However, Li Chuntao insisted that she\'ll join the army by being a military doctor so their Uncle Yuren wouldn\'t have to worry too much.

Sometimes Li Xiuying wished she could be as strong as her sister, Chuntao. If only she was brave enough to stand up for herself.

"No, she doesn\'t know yet. I haven\'t told her." She informed her uncle. Chuntao didn\'t need to know this yet. She\'d brought the trouble to their family and only she should rectify her mistakes. "Uncle, please do not tell her yet. I beg you."

Li Yuren nodded and didn\'t question her any further. He understood how critical it was for his other niece to focus on her studies. However, for the past few weeks, he witnessed how Ying had changed for the worse.

Since the death of his sister, he promised on Li Qiao\'s grave that he\'d look after the twins she had to leave behind. Since they were young, he specifically adjusted his packed schedule, making sure he was able to spend quality time with Xiuying and Chuntao no matter how busy he was.

"Alright, but if she discovers this herself, don\'t blame me. You know you can\'t hide anything for too long. She would be suspicious." He reminded his niece.

"I know, Uncle.. I plan to tell her myself without missing a single detail," she smiled bitterly.
